Frequently Asked

Don't see what you're looking for? Call (337) 577-6009 or drop us a line — we usually answer within a day, often the same evening.

Where are you located, and do you accept visitors?

We're at 4048 Sarah Drive in Lafayette, Louisiana — about ten minutes from the Evangeline Thruway exit off I-10. Visitors are welcome by appointment Monday through Saturday. Call (337) 577-6009 a day or two ahead so we can be at the gate.

Do you ship cattle out of state?

Yes. We've shipped to fourteen states, mostly across the Gulf Coast and into Oklahoma. We can deliver in-state ourselves in our 24-foot gooseneck, and we maintain a short list of insured commercial haulers for longer runs.

Are your cattle registered with ABBA?

Every animal we sell as breeding stock is registered with the American Brahman Breeders Association, with the transfer fee included in the purchase price. Commercial-only animals are clearly marked as such.

What payment methods do you accept?

Cash, personal check from established buyers, certified check, and wire transfer. We do not accept credit cards for cattle purchases. A 25% deposit holds an animal for 14 days.

Do you guarantee your bulls?

Yes. Every herd-sire prospect leaves with a current breeding soundness exam from our veterinarian, and we offer a one-time replacement or refund if a bull fails BSE within 60 days of delivery, provided no injury has occurred.

Can you help my child get started in 4-H or FFA?

Absolutely. We've placed show prospects with junior exhibitors for over a decade, and Lester and Cherie's own kids have shown at the parish and district level. Coaching on halter-breaking, daily care, and ring presentation is included free with every show calf sold.

What's your vaccination and herd-health program?

We run a Vista Once SQ + 8-way clostridial program, deworm with a rotation of macrocyclic lactones and benzimidazoles, and follow a strict trich and brucellosis protocol on all breeding stock. Full records travel with every animal.

Why is the ranch called 'Brahman Bhawan'?

'Bhawan' was an affectionate nickname my great-uncle gave the home place after a trip overseas in the 1960s. When we registered our first Brahman cattle in 2009, we kept it. It's a Lafayette name now.

Do you sell freezer beef directly to consumers?

Yes, in limited quantities each fall. Quarter, half, and whole beef shares are processed by Best Stop Meat Market in Scott, LA, and cut to your specifications. Email us in August to get on the list.

How can I get on your mailing list?

Send an email to support@brahmanbhawan.com with 'mailing list' in the subject line. We send three to four short updates a year — calf crops, sale offerings, and the occasional recipe Cherie won't let us leave out.
